New Report
Reveals Why Some Businesses Fail – Or Fail to Thrive

PARK, ILLINOIS, September 17, 2007 – Solid Oak Consulting, L.L.C., a management
consulting firm, has released the results of a comprehensive study that closely
examines the factors that can contribute to the success – or failure – of a
small business. The 79-page report, entitled “Death of a Small Business: Five Threats to the Growth and Success of
American Small Business,” was commissioned by Solid Oak Consulting and
compiled by the national research firm, Empire Research Group.
Only
39 percent of small businesses are profitable (Source: National Federation of
Independent Business). In light of this and many other discouraging statistics
pertaining to small business success, Solid Oak Consulting founder Tom Long
commissioned a study to examine the many issues and trends affecting small
business. Long used his 30 years of experience in starting, managing and
